The Punt Daily: James Stevens' free horse racing tip at Taunton on Tuesday
BANKER
Doyannie (4.15 Taunton)
I had expected Doyannie to be much shorter at the head the betting as she makes obvious appeal for what looks a moderate 2m5½f handicap chase. She comes here off the back of a really good, if not frustrating, effort at Exeter where she tanked through the race, got into the lead but still managed to get beat. She did not quite have the same battling power as the winner Getmegold but I have no doubt she would have got much closer but for an untidy jump at the last. She may well improve, that was the first time she had been in front at the crucial stage in 11 starts. A 2lb rise suggests she is well capable of scoring, while Taunton's less demanding finish could benefit her – even if she is up slightly in trip. Her best effort on RPRs came at the venue when finishing well to take third in a strong bumper. It could be that this trip and track is what she requires, while good to soft ground looks just about right.
