The Punt Daily: James Pugh with three to follow on Tuesday
GOOD THING
Tara View (1.50 Southwell)
It's always worth forgiving a horse a bad run and punters could profit with this mare, whose fine record over hurdles took a hit when she was disappointed last time out. The Alan King-trained six-year-old – three from four over hurdles and placed in a Grade 2 mares' event – was having her first run of the season at Wincanton last time but she was never better than midfield and was pulled up before three out by Wayne Hutchinson. Her earlier hurdles form entitles her go well in this company, but crucially she steps up to nearly 3m for the first time and that could be the making of her, especially now she returns to good ground.
EYECATCHER
Tzar De L'Elfe (2.00 Lingfield)
Sent off at big prices in four starts for Richard Rowe since moving from France but shaped with definite promise on his first run over fences in Britain at this track last time out. Having been ridden with restraint, the 50-1 shot made decent headway in the closing stages and stayed on nicely to take third, albeit some 13 lengths behind the winner and having made a serious blunder two fences from home. That effort came over 2m4f but he goes back up in trip here and, if he can build on that initial chase promise on similar ground, he could make his presence felt off the same mark under regular rider Andrew Glassonbury.
DARK HORSE
Tigerwolf(12.40 Wolverhampton)
The morning markets could be a strong guide to the chances of this four-year-old, who has a modest strike-rate but is having his first run beyond a mile on his debut for trainer Daniel Mark Loughnane. Without a win in 2017, he has joined Loughnane from Mick Channon, for whom he was once rated as high as 88. His handicap mark is now a career-low 67 having failed to make an impact over trips around 7f. His chances here are further boosted by the assistance of Toby Eley, the only jockey in this all-apprentice line-up to claim 5lb. Eley is without a winner in 58 rides this term but his two career victories have come at this course.
