The Punt Acca: Robbie Wilders' three tips at Goodwood

Etonian(1.50 Goodwood)

The step up to 1m2f appeared to work a treat for Etonian at Ascot last time and he can gain a first victory since his juvenile days in the Chesterfield Cup, the first race at Glorious Goodwood this week. Etonian was attempting to give lumps of weight to a talented Godolphin three-year-old when a neck second at the Berkshire course and, up 2lb to a mark of 97, he should remain competitive at an each-way price. This track might suit even better.

Dear My Friend(2.25 Goodwood)

It's impossible not to be drawn to Holloway Boy in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes given the exceptional feat he achieved at Royal Ascot by winning the Chesham on his debut. However, that race isn't really working out and this easier course may not be to his liking. At much bigger odds, the Charlie and Mark Johnston-trained Dear My Friend is one to consider. He isn't a million miles away on form and looked a really good prospect when winning easily in a good time by five lengths at Beverley in June for a team that always enjoy success at this meeting.

Sacred(3.00 Goodwood)

The 24-runner Platinum Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot was as competitive a Group 1 as you are likely to see, and Sacred shaped well when beaten only a length into fifth in a bunched finish on her seasonal return. She faces an extra furlong in the Lennox Stakes but that will present no issues around here, and this is a clear drop in class for a filly who has trained on and looks destined to tackle top-level prizes again in the near future.
