The Punt Acca: Robbie Wilders' three tips at Goodwood and Galway on Thursday

Prairie Falcon (4.10 Goodwood)

Considering the depth of the 7f nursery at Glorious Goodwood, True Statesman looks a little short in the betting and his price might owe more to his connections rather than the substance of his form. I’d rather back Prairie Falcon at a much bigger price. Michael Dods is 1-1 at Goodwood over the last five seasons and although Prairie Falcon hasn’t shown form that suggests he is chucked in on his handicap debut, an extra furlong may be the key. The booking of Hollie Doyle also catches the eye.

Le Beau Garcon (4.45 Goodwood)

I like a high draw over the minimum distance at Goodwood and Le Beau Garcon is the one to support in the 5f handicap from stall 14. This Brazen Beau gelding didn’t seem to get home over 6f in a hot 19-runner handicap at Newmarket’s July meeting last time, but ran well in seventh and served notice he remains in good form. His Racing Post Ratings were progressive before that and the handicapper has dropped him 2lb in the ratings.

Vina Ardanza (5.05 Galway)

Gordon Elliott is yet to saddle a Galway Hurdle winner and could break the hoodoo with either Top Bandit or Vina Ardanza. Highly tried on his last two runs in Grade 1s, Vina Ardanza ran with credit when third to Jonbon at Aintree before taking a backwards step at Punchestown behind Mighty Potter. I can forgive him that as the race fell apart with Sir Gerhard and Dysart Dynamo also running dismally and the 93-day break should do this five-year-old the world of good.
