Form of her three-length defeat to Marie's Rock off level weights as a novice three starts back took a massive boost with the winner striking twice at Grade 1 level in the spring and Get A Tonic could be well treated off a mark of 133 in this competitive handicap. Unexposed over 3m and has winning form on soft ground, so should go well at a price.

Protektorat(3.00 Haydock)

Betfair Chase odds-on favourite A Plus Tard looks vulnerable on the ground. I'm not sure he wants a real test of stamina on a bog as this is a stayer whose biggest weapon is his turn of foot. That will be blunted and Protektorat has already shown an aptitude for testing conditions with a runaway success in the Grade 2 Many Clouds Chase last term. This youngster can capitalise and should keep progressing.

Lord Du Mesnil(3.35 Haydock)

Few horses act on testing ground at Haydock over extreme distances but Lord Du Mesnil can and has gained three of his four career wins in marathons here on soft or heavy ground. Produced a nice seasonal return at Bangor when second to Coral Gold Cup fancy La Milos and expected to build on that promising effort back to his favourite stamping ground.
