The Punt Acca: Robbie Wilders' three horse racing tips on Friday

Pied Piper (2.05 Down Royal)

The Grade 2 WKD Hurdle can go to Pied Piper in essentially a match between he and stablemate Fil Dor. While Fil Dor was the slightly better juvenile, Pied Piper will have the fitness edge and returned with a career-best performance at Cheltenham last time. This out-and-out two-miler comfortably held his old foe Knight Salute there and could be in for a big season, while Fil Dor is destined for fences sooner rather than later and will be best suited to a slightly longer trip.

War Lord (3.35 Exeter)

There is a case to be made that War Lord should be favourite for the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter, with Third Time Lucki needing to prove he sees out this 2m1½f trip and Greaneteen bidding to defy a monster burden in his warm up for the Tingle Creek again. War Lord possesses a similar profile to the Tizzard team's 2021 Haldon winner Eldorado Allen and looks on a decent mark after a productive novice campaign. The fact he stays a little further is another plus.

Mehnah(7.30 Dundalk)

This mile Listed race looks a decent opportunity for the lightly raced Mehnah. Considered a live Classic hope for the Kevin Prendergast stable at the beginning of last season, Mehnah returned to the track from 459 days off with a close sixth to Breeders' Cup-bound Toy on soft ground at Naas this month, and the expectation is she improves for the run. A wide draw here isn't ideal, but she is the one to beat on these terms and her class can assure she overcomes that.
