Northern Bound(1.40 Warwick)

Ben Pauling enjoyed a very strong summer jumps campaign and one of the horses who helped it along was Northern Bound, who recorded a second win of the year at Bangor in August. That comfortable success over Fat Sam confirmed he was still improving and his main rival, Golden Taipan, does not have much hidden from the handicapper. With that in mind, he is an obvious contender.

Cobra Kai(3.35 Ayr)

Previously trained by Ben Haslam, Cobra Kai made a winning debut for Keith Dalgleish over course and distance in August. Placing in two subsequent starts, he bounced back from a flop at Ayr by finishing second back over course and distance last time. He was rather unfortunate that day, given he led into a massive headwind, and off just 1lb higher, he can gain rightful compensation.

Chives(3.51 Worcester)

A three-time winner over hurdles last year, Chives has been absent since a dominant success at Fontwell in September 2021. The 387-day absence is a small worry, but he remains lightly-raced for an eight-year-old and Nicky Henderson's string have come out swinging in recent weeks. A return to this trip will suit and with Ben French Davis claiming 7lb, he should have too much class for this field.
