He lacks the experience of the other market protagonists, but Nostrum's Sandown maiden win has been well-advertised since and he looks potentially top class for powerful connections. This race has been dominated by Godolphin in recent years, but Sir Michael Stoute's juvenile holds lofty entries and the manner in which he quickened away on debut suggested he was out of the top draw. Ryan Moore once again partners and he should account for this field.

Dhahabi(4.10 Newmarket)

Given his clear talent, it must be frustrating for connections of Dhahabi that he has not been able to run frequently since a progressive juvenile campaign. He missed all of 2021 and two runs in the spring proved fruitful, most recently finishing second to Magical Morning at Doncaster. He was always likely to need the run after being gelded behind Adayar this month and this half-brother to Golden Horn looks set to relish a step up in trip. Off this mark, he could prove very tough to stop under William Buick.

Captain Kane(5.20 Newmarket)

Trained by George Scott, Captain Kane has been prolific in 2022 and was bidding for his eighth win of the campaign at Thirsk this month. Soft ground scuppered his chance on that occasion, but he still ran with credit and a mark of 87 should still be within his scope. He is back on his preferred surface and with regular partner Daniel Muscutt back in the saddle, he can return to winning ways quickly.
