The Punt Acca: Jack Haynes's three horse racing tips on Monday

Balkardy (3.00 Newton Abbot)

This five-year-old, trained by Evan Williams, may have been slightly flattered by finishing within three quarters of a length of Hell Red in a novice chase at this track recently but that was a good effort at the weights. That was Balkardy's first run for 50 days, his first try at 3m2f and his joint-best recorded Racing Post Rating so there is potential for improvement in what looks a tight race.

Dora Penny (6.50 Ffos Las)

Red Walls and Symbol Of Hope should ensure a good gallop in this 5f handicap and Dora Penny, who takes a notable drop in class, can capitalise. This filly won a Class 2 nursery last year and peaked at an official rating of 82. She has dropped to a mark of 65 now, ran encouragingly on her penulimate start when third at Leicester and was not disgraced in a much better race at Ripon last time. This looks a good opportunity.

Neptunian (7.00 Windsor)

It is worth giving Neptunian a second chance after finishing last of six on his first run since wind surgery at Newmarket last month. The unexposed colt was too keen that day but was only beaten three lengths and did not post a drastically below-par RPR. The form of his three novice runs has worked out well and he is fancied to get back on track in this 6f handicap.
