The Punt Acca: Harry Wilson's three horse racing tips on Sunday afternoon
Kodebreaker (12.50 Southwell)
Having switched to Michael Herrington's yard, Kodebreaker steadily improved with each run before getting off the mark for his new trainer just over a week ago. That win was achieved here over a furlong shorter, where he looked stronger the further they went and held on to prevail by a neck. Stamina looked a strong suit there and he was a staying-on half-length third over course and distance on his penultimate start, so the return to a mile looks a good option. He was only put up 2lb for that success to a mark of 58, which he won off when trained by Kevin Ryan, so he looks sure to go close.
Big River (3.00 Kelso)
Despite being at least three years older than each of his rivals, Big River has shown that even in his veteran years, he still has what it takes to win. He's had 15 runs at the course, which have resulted in eight victories, including winning this race on its last two runnings. His course record is further enhanced when the going is described as heavy, with three starts in those conditions yielding three victories. He's won more races over this distance than at any other trip and he's 3lb lower than he was when winning this last year, so everything looks in favour of him landing the hat-trick in this race.
Justcallmepete (3.20 Southwell)
The application of blinkers has brought about huge improvement from Justcallmepete, with his two starts in the headgear yielding two victories, the last of which came over this course and distance. The winning margin of one and a quarter lengths doesn't do him any justice as he was clear with a furlong left to run and was eased before the finish. A 6lb rise for that comfortable success shouldn't be a problem and with the blinkers remaining on, there is every chance that he can bring up the hat-trick.
