The Placepot: Paul Kealy tackles the popular Tote bet at Cheltenham

A contest full of unraced three-year-olds makes the Newmarket card totally unappealing as far as the Tote Placepot is concerned, so it's off to Cheltenham instead.

It's all about the mares on Cheltenham's card, and The Glancing Queen– a creditable fifth to Tellmesomethinggirl in the Grade 2 mares' novice hurdle at the festival – should find the competition more to her liking in the opener (1.30) and is banker material.

In leg two (2.05) the Nicky Henderson-trained promises to be a different proposition given some decent ground. She might be able to see off Irish raider Scholastic and looks another worth going alone with.

The next race (2.40) is considerably tougher, but I expect to enjoy the ground, while , who has run some of her best races here including her shock in the mares' novice hurdle at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival, is worth adding in.

Only nine go in leg four (3.15), but it was 5-1 the field on the first show. wasn't beaten far despite finishing only sixth last time, while was ahead of her and tends to run her race fairly regularly.

In the next, is 8lb wrong at the weights, but is 23lb better off with for an eight-and-three-quarter length beating at Warwick last time and 15lb better with runner-up Pink Legend. Liberty Bella is consistent and goes in too.

The last is more open than the numbers suggest, so I'll go with two there. took a big step in the right direction last time, while can go well back at 2m on decent ground.
