The Meydan Punt: Nick Driver with three to follow on Thursday

BANKER

Final Song (3.05 Meydan)

Saeed bin Suroor has won three of the last six runnings of the UAE 1,000 Guineas and looks likely to improve that record with Final Song. She showed her talent in the trial, cutting down Rio Angie and Down On Da Bayou late on before surging clear. The extra furlong here is likely to suit based on that evidence. She is bound to improve and can comfortably build on that last run and her high-class two-year-old form. The draw isn't ideal but she won from stall 11 in the trial and doesn't need to be right up with the pace, so that shouldn't be an issue. The price might not be much but as long as Christophe Soumillon keeps her out of trouble it should be a straightforward victory. Chasing Dreams is well regarded and could be a danger if taking to dirt. However, the surface switch seems to be an afterthought.

GOOD THING

Caspian Prince (3.40 Meydan)

Most horses would be tucked away in their stables when they are 11-year-olds but the evergreen Caspian Prince is still going and has every chance of taking the 5f Dubai Dash. He made an impressive start when second to Almanaara on the opening day of the carnival and there's no reason why this course-and-distance winner won't be able to run to form again. He wasn't penalised for that run so comes here off a rating of 100 and will receive 5lb from Equilateral, who the selection finished ahead of off level weights in the Sapphire Stakes. He also comfortably saw off A Momentofmadness last time who reopposes on the same terms, while the others all have work to do on current form. Prodigal Son has run some good times in the US and could be the main danger.

EYECATCHER

Sanad Libya (4.15 Meydan)

It could be worth chancing Sanad Libya here and steering clear from the key Godolphin trio following their poor runs in the UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial previously. The selection seems to have a fair bit in his favour. He has a plum draw in stall one, the guidance of two-time UAE champion jockey Richard Mullen and potentially the form to boot. He was just over five lengths behind UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial winner Commanding over a mile on his debut in the Jebel Ali Port, closing on the winner at the same rate of knots as Dark Of Night, who went on to finish a lot closer to Commanding in the Trial. With potentially bundles of improvement left in him, the son of Tapiture has every chance in a wide-open affair.
