Trainer Patrick Biancone has some lovely young horses in his barn. One of which is Sole Volante, who took the notable scalp of Independence Hall on his latest outing over this course and distance. The Gulfstream shipper proved his mettle and ability to handle Tampa that day with a ready victory (front two drew miles clear) and he looks a gelding that is ready to make his name in proper Grade 1 company. His only defeat in four races came when behind the reopposing Chance It in the Mucho Macho Man, but he was given too much to do that day and can reverse the form.

EYECATCHER

(9.30 Santa Anita)

Ex-Qatar Racing-owned six-year-old who won three times when with Johnny Murtagh in Ireland, including the Group 3 Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown in 2018. Has gone from strength-to-strength in America since and has won at Grade 2 level at this track, beating the reopposing Ohio by half a length last February. Hasn't had the best of trips in his recent outings, so can be excused a few poor runs, but breaks from the inside tonight and is partnered by the bang-in-form Umberto Rispoli. He's worth a second look at a price.
