The Evening Punt: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Thursday
EYECATCHER
Headstrong sprinter who needs to be held up and played late in his races but certainly doesn't lack a change of gear. Has more than enough ability to win a race of this nature and although his recent form figures of 760078 don't exactly entice, his handicap mark has plummeted to just 61, which is 7lb lower than when he was last successful at this track 11 months ago. This course and distance suits him well and the fact he drops into 0-60 company for the first time makes him a good bet at around 9-2.
GOOD THING
Redzone (7.30 Newcastle)
Unexposed three-year-old who has run to a consistent level on his last three outings in handicap company and will have his turn in the sun sooner rather than later. Appeared to be suited by a more prominent ride last time, when he was only beaten a length and three-quarters over this course and distance despite never having a clear run to tackle the leaders close to home. He appears to have work to do to beat the William Haggas-trained favourite tonight but I'd rather take a chance on Redzone at a bigger price.
