The Evening Punt: Robbie Wilders' horse racing tip at Down Royal on Friday

DARK HORSE

Hannon (5.52 Down Royal)

Hannon has turned a corner in recent starts for Tom Gibney and after he went close off 136 in a handicap hurdle at Killarney in May he ran a respectable race in the Galway Hurdle. Switching to the Flat last time, Hannon got within three-quarters of a length of the well-ridden No Thanks, whose jockey Jodie Townend is excellent value for her 5lb claim, an allowance that probably made all the difference in the outcome of the contest. I always like to back a solid jumper with stamina in abundance in this type of race and Hannon, rated 140 over hurdles, will appreciate the extra furlong as he has shown his best over 2m4f in the other sphere. Considering the form he has been in this summer a mark of 77 looks a winnable one.
