The races contested by Danny Whizzbang at Newbury and Kempton have produced many winners of this event. In the Kauto Star Novices' Chase he was going well enough just behind the leaders when hampered by a faller four out and the effort to catch them told before the second last.

A couple of former winners came from the Grade 2 event at Haydock in which Sam Brown pulled well clear of his rivals. It was the fastest time of the day by 18 seconds, but rail movements make that fact hard to assess. This high-quality recruit, whose minor problems over the past three years have allowed him only six races, has won five with his only defeat being on good ground.
