Take Sruthan to take advantage of the rain at Cork

Sruthan looks to have very solid claims in this afternoon's Navigation Stakes at Cork

With plenty of rain forecast and an ease in the ground already, it could be wise to concentrate on proven soft ground performers on a Cork card this afternoon with no shortage of runners.

The Equine Acres Handicap (2.15) has attracted quite a select field with a few horses that have held their form well over the summer. One that has not really managed that is the Eddie Lynam-trained Whiskey Sour, but much better can be expected from him with the ground now likely to be in his favour.

He has struggled in big handicaps since narrowly beating today's rival Tony The Gent in a Naas handicap in July, but his latest effort in a muddling handicap over a mile at Limerick last week is far better than his finishing position would suggest. The step up in trip will suit and he's only 2lb higher than his last winning mark. With Billy Lee booked, he could well be ready to produce a very big run here.
