Although he is up against two previous winners in the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Race (5.50) at Roscommon, Xian Express displayed enough promise on his debut in a Galway maiden to suggest he can improve past that pair.

The gelded son of Dragon Pulse was asked a tough question at Ballybrit. The 7f maiden on the opening evening of the summer festival is traditionally a hot affair and Innisfree and Shekhem, who fought out the finish, look well above average.
