Sweetspots: Take Verglas to leave the layers on a slippery slope

Harry Whittington has been in fine form over the last two weeks and sits prominently towards the top end of the Hot Trainers list. He sends two to Newbury, the pick being Bigmartre (12.50), who should take some catching.

When Mark Loughnane and Luke Morris team up at Southwell it’s worth taking note as they have a 50 per cent strike-rate when combining at the course. They do so with course-and-distance winner Viva Verglas (2.45), the trainer’s only runner there.
