Richard Hannon strikes at 13 per cent generally but that rises to 28 per cent with runners in first-time cheekpieces. The aid is introduced for Rita’s Man (2.45) at Redcar and, dropped into a seller, he can regain winning form under Silvestre de Sousa, who was on board for his last victory in May.

David O’Meara strikes at 16 per cent with handicap debutants, boasting an impressive £45.21 profit to £1 level stakes. Lord Glitters has his first run for the trainer in Ascot’s big 7f handicap (3.35). After winning French conditions races on his last two starts, he was purchased for €270,000.

With 11 winners from 22 runners at Redcar (50 per cent), anything William Haggas runs at the Yorkshire venue has to be noted. His sole runner there is Green Fortune in the Two-Year-Old Trophy (3.20). He was not disgraced in Group 3 company last time and this is a drop in class.

Richard Hughes is 3-9 in sellers (33 per cent) but strikes at 43 per cent with those making their debut in such races. He drops Princess Lyla (6.15) into that grade for the first time at Wolverhampton. She landed two nurseries in August, including one at the track, and is the only winner in the field.
