Stoney Broke backers have their fingers burnt

Stoney Broke was backed down to 1.03 after eventually getting the better of High On Light in the 1m4f handicap at Newcastle, but she was mugged close home by Donnachies Girl (140).

Somebody took a big risk in laying the Tom Marquand-ridden Anna Nerium at 90 after she hit the front approaching the final furlong in the 7f novice stakes at Newmarket. Although Al Hajar closed all the way to the line, she had just enough in the tank to last home. The runner-up was matched at 1.27.

Stamp Hill was backed at £137 (£180 traded) before running out an impressive winner of the 7f handicap at Ascot under Paul Hanagan.
