Stack can sign off in style with good chance of another winner

Tommy Stack: thirty years as a trainer after highly successful riding career
Tommy Stack: could visit the winner's enclosure at Dundalk on Friday night thanks to A Shin ImpalaCredit: Caroline Norris

The curtain comes down on the career of Tommy Stack at Dundalk on Friday evening and the final act in a what has been a very successful show could be heart-warming as the Golden-based trainer might bow out with a winner, or maybe even two.

Stack has trained horses in each of the past four decades but he made a decision this year to hand over his licence to son Fozzy for the start of the 2017 campaign. That means this is his last hurrah, and A Shin Impala and Victorious Secret could make it a night to remember. And a decent show from his other runner on the card, Thunder Speed, is a distinct possibility too.

Tipping a horse with form figures of 08680 would not usually be advised but an exception is made for A Shin Impala in the opening rated race over a mile (4.30).
