Speedy veteran could thrive dropped even further in trip
No. 4
Menelik
4.55 Lingfield
1pt win at 5-1 generallyIf Menelik was a lightly-raced four-year-old he'd be about even-money to win this sprint this afternoon, so commanding was his win last time out at Chelmsford.
He isn't though, and as an eight-year-old veteran of 41 starts who has never run over as short as 5f you can see why the bookmakers are happy enough to take him on.
That might still be a mistake, though, as while he has won over as far as 1m2f, he has been turned into a sprinter this year and is in the form of his life.
