Top apprentice Andrew Slattery, who brought his score for the year to 26 with a double at Gowran Park on Wednesday night, is a significant booking for the Noel Meade-trained Red Gerry in the Grant Thornton Apprentice Handicap.
The Canford Cliffs gelding boasts one particularly interesting piece of form, having chased home the Aidan O'Brien-trained Blenheim Palace at Navan in May. The winner, a brother to Group 1 winners Churchill and Clemmie, finished second in the Derrinstown Derby Trial on his next start and has also managed another Group 3 second at the Curragh.
