Signposts: Chef can cook up a third win on the spin for Boyle

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

This is a prime time of year for trainer Charlie Longsdon. He has a 33 per cent strike-rate with his horses two weeks either side of today’s date for the past five seasons. His only runner at Newton Abbot is course winner Aunty Ann (2.40).

William Haggas has a 38 per cent strike-rate at Ayr and sends one horse to the venue, Beauty Filly (3.35). The drop back to a sprint trip resulted in victory last time and she should relish any give in the ground.

Exec Chef joined the Jim Boyle stable in July and is 2-2 for the trainer. Pat Cosgrave has ridden the gelding on both of those starts and they bid for the hat-trick at Newbury (5.05). The three-year-old is worth a try at this distance and a 6lb rise for a win here last time should pose no problems.
