James Turner is not a trainer who often hits the headlines but from his base near Ripon in North Yorkshire, he has accumulated a decent strike-rate with his small string of mainly homebreds or cheaply-bought sorts.

Back in 2013 he showed his skill at placing by winning seven handicaps with the sprinter Bondi Beach Boy despite him going up 33lb in the ratings, and in Zakety Zak who he bought for £1,500 as a foal, he looks to have another decent performer on his hands.

The five-year-old is fancied to win his second race of the season by taking the Emirates Handicap Hurdle (1.10) at Newcastle this afternoon.
