Shock 125-1 winner not the only horse to note from Fairyhouse maiden

Trainer: Joe Murphy
5th, 6f two-year-old maiden, Fairyhouse, July 6
This newcomer was one of the bigger eyecatchers of the week and, as juveniles from this stable do tend to improve for a run, he could have a future.

The race was most notable for the victory of 125-1 shot Kodi Noir, but plenty of other eyes were drawn to Jackstaff. Restrained early on some way off a decent early pace, he proceeded to make nice ground among horses in the straight and could have enjoyed a little more luck in running, especially in the last furlong. But he overcame that to an extent and ran on really nicely under hands and heels inside the last.

A homebred colt with a nice pedigree, by US Navy Flag out of a close relative of Hector Protector and Bosra Sham, but with a bit of stamina there too. He should improve a good deal.
