Scott can coax more from Bertiewhittle on his ideal ground

Bertiewhittle goes well for Rowan Scott 4.00 Leicester

The 5lb claimer was on board for this eight-year-old’s easy victory in a 20-runner 7f handicap at York last October and had his first ride on the gelding for more than nine months in a Doncaster handicap over the same trip last month.

Bertiewhittle had dropped to a mark only 2lb higher than for that success and bounced back to form in second behind Certificate. The value of that effort got a boost when the rapidly progressive winner followed up off a 6lb higher mark in a hot race at Goodwood on his next start.
