Sandown Placepot picks: Paul Kealy tackles a competitive Saturday card

Sandown's opening six-runner juvenile handicap hurdle (1.15) is interesting for Placepot players because the front two in the betting are comfortably the worst-handicapped according to Racing Post Ratings.

It's obviously early days for them all, but Langafel was no better than any of those with Flat ratings and is giving plenty of weight away.

I'll go with and , who both ran fair races last time.

It's not going to be an easy Placepot to get with two big-field handicaps up next, but I quite like my two of and in the next (1.50), while in the Imperial Cup (2.25) could give Dan Skelton back-to-back winners of the race after Langer Dan last year.

It's a race that needs more coverage, though, and and make more appeal than the favourite Balco Coastal given Nicky Henderson's questionable form.

In the bumper won the race last year and can get closer to this time, with the latter the obvious second play.

In the fifth (3.35) I wouldn't make the complete rag back on decent ground, and he goes in with the slick-jumping .

That just leaves the seven-runner last race and while it's very competitive on paper, I do think will take some beating after his second to Flegmatik (won easily since) last time at Kempton.
