Sandown Placepot picks: Paul Kealy provides his perm with two bankers

The market will no doubt tell us what is expected of the Nicky Henderson-trained Balkeo in Sandown's opener (12.40), but would be a very short price to beat the rest and looks a safer Placepot play, with the better ground likely to suit.

The next (1.15) is tricky. Although both Paul Nicholls-trained runners (Tamaroc Du Mathan and Dolos) are attractively handicapped, the yard is still having plenty run well below form.

With Gunsight Ridge probably needing more of a test on this ground, preference is for , who can handle any ground, and , who is becoming better handicapped with every run.

The next (1.50) has a trappy look, but will be obviously happier going right-handed, and is good enough to pick up the pieces if his four rivals, all prominent racers, go too hard.

is by far the most reliable jumper of the two market leaders in the next (2.20), so is banker material, and I'll be perfectly happy with my two of and in the competitive handicap hurdle (2.55).

That just leaves the three-mile handicap chase (3.30), which is seriously tricky. always tends to run his race at Sandown, though, and I'm sure is well handicapped, even if there are slight doubts over the form of Olly Murphy's yard (had a welcome winner on Thursday).
