Ripon Placepot tips: Tom Segal with a manageable eight-line perm on tricky card

Not many two-year-olds as well bred as My Dubawi have been out so far this Flat season, and he should get off the mark in the opening race (1.33) on a trappy Ripon card.

He's the only real Placepot banker as all the other legs are handicaps, but things get too expensive if you include too many horses and Cometh The Man could be worth banking on as well in the first division of the 6f handicap (2.05).

He won't mind the soft ground and first-time cheekpieces could bring about some improvement too.

The second division (2.35) looks really hard but Canterbury Tales is open to plenty of improvement and Tom Mix is drawn well and should appreciate the drop in trip.

Ed Bethell has made a great start to his training career and he saddles the exciting Rich Dream in perhaps the most informative race on the card (3.05). He really caught the eye in the Convivial maiden at York on his debut and might have bumped into one on his comeback run at Wolverhampton.

However, with only six runners, it's probably safest to include the in-form Contact as well.

Course specialist Benadalid will go well in leg five (3.35), while there could be improvement to come from Jean Baptiste at this trip.

Finally, Lady Nectar was impressive at Thirsk recently and should hit the frame off only a 4lb higher mark in the 6f fillies' handicap (4.05).
