Rider's claim can prove the key to big-race success with the trip no problem

Minella Rocco was a gallant runner-up in the Gold Cup in the spring, so his presence off a rating 166 means few are in the handicap proper. Third last year, he found the trip a bit sharp on his Punchestown return and this should be ideal. The cheekpieces weren't used last time, are not used today and are probably being kept for a big day. Five of the past six winners were aged seven.

Perfect Candidate has won two handicaps from ten outings over these fences. He will improve for his return and appreciate the easier ground. Banjo, 20 years ago, was the last gelding to score off a mark as high as 152, but that possibility is more feasible this year with the compressed weights.
