This ten-year-old has recorded four of his five wins over hurdles and disappointed over those obstacles on his seasonal reappearance at Cheltenham last month, but that may have been a pipe-opener for his return to chasing and he is lightly raced in this sphere after only seven runs.

Philip Hobbs's gelding runs off a 7lb lower mark in today's handicap chase and is therefore able to take a big drop in class. He contested a Class 1 handicap hurdle last time, but is now down three grades in Class 4 company. His only chase win came in this grade and the fitting of a tonguestrap to accompany the usual cheekpieces suggests connections mean business.
