Red Stars a sparkling bet to add to Oxx's Lenebane haul

John Oxx dominated the Listed Lenebane Stakes (7.55) between 2008 and 2012, winning it four times in five years. The last few years have been bleak for one of the gentlemen of the game but he could enjoy his biggest success of the season tonight with Red Stars, who looks a big player in Roscommon's feature event.

The ratings suggest Red Stars has plenty to do. She is rated 5lb inferior to Ulster Oaks winner Simannka and the pair race off level weights. But Chemical Charge, rated 107, gives her 17lb and there are valid grounds for thinking Oxx's filly will improve significantly for the step up in trip.

Her maiden win came over 7f at Roscommon last September, the form of which is working out okay as Palmones, beaten five lengths into third, has picked up a pair of handicaps and is now rated 78.
