Joao Moreira, the 'Magic Man', can celebrate being officially accepted back into the HongKong ranks by riding winners on this attractive ten-race card at Sha Tin.

Just how many largely depends on the way the feature races unfold, as many horses have their final prep runs before the big Hong Kong International Races on December 9.

Moreira received news on Friday that the Jockey Club has approved his new retainer with champion trainer John Size, which will run from December 9 to June 9.

The Brazilian’s sudden reappearance follows his failure to get a year-round licence in Japan — he failed the written test — but now he is ready to add to the impressive 717 winners he registered in five seasons in HongKong.

He partners Hot King Prawn (8.40) for Size in the Group 2 Jockey Club Sprint, and this rapidly rising star can confirm the superiority he displayed in winning the Group 2 Premier Bowl, also over six furlongs at Sha Tin, last time.

Stablemate Ivictory finished tenth (five and a half lengths behind the winner) that day. Even with Ivictory drawn in stall one and Hot King Prawn in eight I believe they will come home in the same order.

Moreira can finish off a highly successful day by winning the finale aboard the capable Noble Steed (9.50), trained by Francis Lui. This seven-furlong Class three handicap looks tailor-made for him, and even the wide draw is not a serious negative.

Noble Steed, a nice Australian-bred son of Street Cry, caught the eye when finishing well in fourth over course and distance last time, which should have him spot on for this assignment.

Earlier on the card, Beauty Generation (7.30) will be very hard to beat in the Group 2 Jockey Club Mile no matter what tactics any of his seven rivals attempt.
