vvThere was much debate about whether Sedgefield would get the green light to race after overnight frost , but many punters may have preferred it to have been off after a gamble on Onwiththeparty went astray in the opener (2.00).

Harry Challoner's mount was punted from as big as 9-2 in the morning into 2-1 favouritism but never laid a glove on the front-running Joseph Mercer and could finish only fourth. The 7-2 winner also was supported in the market but had registered a long time between drinks having not scored since 2012.

There was also no luck for favourite backers or in-running players in the following handicap hurdle (2.35) where the well supported Murray Mount struck out well before £40,293 was traded at 1.01 on Strait Run who looked all over the winner on the run-in.
