Punchestown Placepot tips: Robbie Wilders assesses the meeting's opening day
Willie Mullins will have plenty of winners at Punchestown this week but I expect the Gavin Cromwell-trainedBrides Hillto end his recent domination of the festival's opening mares' novice hurdle (3.40).
Mullins should get off the mark in the following Grade 1 novice hurdle (4.15), with Dysart Dynamo preferred to shorter-priced stablemate Sir Gerhard at this track.
Course form can again come to the fore in the 2m½f handicap hurdle (4.50) with Ardla, who served it up to the smart Grand Jury a few starts back, and Great Bear, who ran a cracker at this meeting last year.
It wouldn't surprise me if Chacun Pour Soi won the William Hill Champion Chase (5.25) but I'll side with the younger Energumenein a superb clash.
Newcomer Caldwell Potter catches the eye as a brother to Grade 1 winner Mighty Potter in the Goffs Land Rover Bumper (6.00). Katie Tayis one of the few with the benefit of racecourse experience and is also included after shaping well on her debut.
Fury Road and Millers Bankare the pair to focus on in the final Grade 1 novice chase (6.35). Both excelled at the Grand National meeting and look overpriced in relation to Bob Olinger and Capodanno.
