You have to go back to the 1940s to find the last seven-year-old to land the Grand National, but three of the last four winners have been eight years old and that gives hope Ramses De Teillee can buck the trend and lay that stat to rest.

The David Pipe-trained grey proved he was suited by a stiff test of stamina on soft ground when rallying to finish a length and a quarter behind Elegant Escape in second in the Welsh Grand National in December, and confirmed himself on the upgrade when filling the same position at Haydock last time.
