Racing Post Ratings: Steve Mason

Smad Place (2.05 Ascot, nap)

A 170+ performer at his peak, he posted his best figure (168) for nearly a year when making a winning reappearance at Aintree and will be hard to beat if he runs to a similar level today.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Three Musketeers (2.25 Haydock)

Shaped encouragingly at Aintree a month ago and Dan Skelton's six-year-old can make his presence felt in this competitive staying handicap.

Longshot: Ed Quigley

Sir Valentino (3.15 Ascot)

Jumping errors on very testing ground put pay to his chances in the Haldon Gold Cup. Can go well on a better surface with that run under his belt.

Ireland: Tony O'Hehir

Kuraka (12.05 Gowran Park)

Runner-up to the smart Espoir D'Allen on his hurdling debut at Down Royal three weeks ago, the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding has solid claims in today's juvenile maiden hurdle and gets the vote to score under Davy Russell.
