Progressive filly can take advantage of good opportunity

Dundalk stage their penultimate meeting of the year tonight with no particular sign of a decline in entries and yet another eight-race card to ponder over.

The Happy Christmas From All At Dundalk Stadium Maiden (6.00) is a weak-looking affair and it looks a very good opportunity for the Ger Lyons-trained filly Ellaria to end the year with a valuable success.

She has shown gradual progression in three starts – going closest when stepping up to this trip two weeks ago to very good effect in narrowly failing to peg back the Jim Bolger-trained Landikusic.

She turned tables with possible market rival Pure Action on that occasion, improving past him, and it is hard to find a reason to suggest that the tables will be reversed again, especially as she has the better draw. First-time blinkers will be interesting in their effect, but she looks a solid bet in a very winnable race.
