Progressive Elgin deserves his shot at Champion Hurdle glory
Leading trainer Alan King on his chances on day one of the Cheltenham Festival
Elgin (3.30)
Elgin deserves to take his chance having progressed all season and stepped up to another level when winning the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton. He was in front plenty soon enough there and was giving weight to horses who were rated above him, so it was definitely a career-best performance.
He was put up to 161 after that so his handicapping days are over, but that new mark highlights his chance of making his presence felt on Tuesday as he's now rated higher than the horses who finished second, fourth and sixth were last year.
Midnight Tour (4.10)
I could see her going well. She's not rated to win it but she'll be staying on up the hill and should give a good account.
