Plumpton Placepot picks: Richard Birch gives his selections for the jumps card

Alien Stormhas a race-fitness advantage over most of his rivals in the opening novice hurdle at Plumpton (2.10), and picks himself for Placepot purposes.

Rewired, who represents the resurgent Richard Newland stable, should also go well.

The lightly raced Ozzie Man, trained by local ace Gary Moore, catches the eye in the 2m4f handicap chase (2.45) off an opening mark of 100.

The novice handicap hurdle (3.20) looks competitive, yet it’s not hard to argue that Mordred remains fairly treated after his commanding success in a Sedgefield handicap chase.

Encashment, placed six times since late April, wasn’t ridden to best effect when out of the frame at Uttoxeter on her latest start, and a better showing is predicted off bottom weight.

Fairway Freddy, a winner at Stratford on Saturday, and tough-as-teak Al Roc, are the pair to focus on in the feature 2m4f handicap chase (3.55).

Overpriced Mixer, who returns on a fair mark after wind surgery, is suggested for the 2m handicap hurdle (4.30) along with Mark Of Gold, while Chris Gordon has found a good opportunity for Blade Runner in the staying novice handicap chase (5.05).
