Play on sprinting's Mr Dependable in the July Cup
Hello Youmzain

Buy at 18 on the index
On spreads, there are two main approaches: the cheap swing for the fences, or the nudge and nurdle with a dependable sort.
The July Cup gives more opportunity for the latter. Hello Youmzain has run only three times since he was third in last year's Commonwealth Cup, but already goes about his business in such a straightforward and likeable manner that he is the sprinter of choice for any each-way or spread bets.
It helps that he tends to go off in front, although that could be one of the few drawbacks here. He is out on the wing in stall 12, which logically would be a worry but the last two July Cup winners have both come from the same stall so it is clearly no coffin box.
It would be unfair to regard Hello Youmzain simply as a safe conveyance. He has won two Group 1 sprints, including the Diamond Jubilee last time. He went hard on what was his seasonal reappearance but managed to cling on. It is not out of the question that he will improve a little more, still being fairly youthful in traditional sprinting terms.
Of course, buying at 18 means that a fourth-placed finish or lower will result in a loss for buyers. But if there is any Group 1 sprinter to take that chance with, it is Hello Youmzain.
