Paul Kealy's play of the day at Chepstow

2.10 Chepstow

The Venetia Williams-trained five-year-old had a hefty schedule last season as he ran five times on the Flat before turning his attention to hurdles, so it was no surprise he was down the field on his final start in Grade 1 company.

Otherwise he was seriously progressive in both spheres and he is only 5lb higher than when winning a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Sandown last February.

He blew out next time on bottomless ground at Haydock but proved his ability by running fifth in the Albert Bartlett on his next outing, and there ought to be more to come from a horse so young despite the fact he ran plenty of times on the Flat.

The key to him will hopefully be having had a nice long break since he was last seen.
