The horse Illegal Model slammed (Springfield Fox) on his racecourse debut almost exactly a year ago is now second favourite for the Welsh National later on the card, but Charlie Longsdon's hurdler has been out only twice since, both runs coming at the end of 2020.

He ran a race full of promise on his return after a wind op when third to Captain Drake at Uttoxeter in October, and wasn't far from that form when fifth at Sandown last month, despite a bad mistake five out and seemingly not handling the Esher track's bends to well, especially when asked to make ground turning for home the final time.
