Paul Kealy provides his Tote Placepot perm at Cheltenham on Sunday
Banking on a chase debutant for Placepot purposes is not the best strategy, so although The Big Breakaway (1.15) is fully expected by the market to win on his eagerly awaited fencing bow, I'm going to take a chance and leave him out.
The Big Breakaway did not excel here when a distant fourth in the Ballymore, and his sire is a surprisingly low 2-59 on the track.
The problem is that most of his rivals are noted good-ground performers, but The Butcher Saidchased home Ramses De Teillee on bottomless ground over hurdles here last year and outsider Doc Penfrodoes like it deep, so they will do for me.
Crievehillis the main fancy in the next (1.50), but he might not stay, and while does not win often, he does look solid for place purposes in a race he won last year.
The Shloer (2.25) is competitive despite only four runners, but Arkle winner has to be considered given how she has jumped round here twice, while could spring a surprise.
The Greatwood (3.00) is really hard, but I'll select my two fancies Thinkingand , and suggest you also take a chance and add , whose latest piece of form here has been well advertised.
Third Time Lucki is definitely a favourite to take on in the next (3.35) as he doesn't have anything like the form his price suggests. Fidelio Vallis and Courtandbouldare the two obvious ones for me.
Bumpers (4.05) are usually hard, but Gordon Elliott's Weseekhimhereis unpenalised at this level for two impressive victories and he has a big edge on RPRs as well as a huge one on Topspeed figures, so will surely be hard to kick out of the frame.
