Paul Kealy provides his Placepot perm for day four of Royal Ascot
A 22-runner handicap (1.15) with a warm favourite provides the opening leg of the Royal Ascot placepot and it's fair to say that Art Power has a nice profile.
However, the race is full of sprinters with the potential to improve and I like the look of and against him, particularly the former, who has plenty of experience and handles soft ground well.
The Albany Stakes might need a bit of cover considering we're all pretty much in the dark about the relative abilities of horses who have run only once.
was my main selection, but we'll add Golden Melody, who is by Belardo, a horse who loved soft ground.
Mick Channon has a good record in this race and Mahale could go well at a price. She is a half-sister to a Group 2 winner and ran a fine first race at Newmarket when fourth from a bad draw.
Eye Of Heaven is going to be a hot favourite for the Norfolk Stakes (2.25) given how the form of his win has has worked out, but he's facing markedly different ground and I'll take a chance on getting him beaten.
has had two runs because he appeared before racing was stopped, and while he was beaten at odds-on last time, that was clearly in a good race as Chesham winner Battleground was fifth.
is the most solid of the favourites in the Hardwicke Stakes (3.00), but it's a competitive heat, so I'll add Hamish, who has the potential to improve again this term.
The two against the field in the Commonwealth Cup (3.35) are Kimariand , who both finished second at the meeting last year.
I thought Lope Y Fernandez would get the trip easily in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, but he didn't and the drop back in trip could help, while Kimari looks a strong stayer at the trip and that will be a bonus in the conditions.
We'll bank on Santiagoin the Queen's Vase (4.10) to keep the perm manageable.
