Paul Kealy has a select perm and a banker for day one at Newmarket
There are some interesting newcomers in Newmarket's opener (1.20), but surely there will need to be three very good ones to keep out of the first three.
In finishing third in the Albany at Royal Ascot, Ivory Madonna ran to a level considerably higher than any previous winner of this maiden and there's no reason to think it was a fluke despite her price, so she looks banker material for the Placepot.
Derby fourth deserves favouritism in the next (1.50), but in what could prove a tactical race I want to be on the pacesetter, too, and that's .
and Persian Force have easily the best form in the third race (2.25) and with eight runners set to go to post, we can do with only one. I'll go with Little Big Bear as a few winners have already come out of his Windsor Castle.
The fourth race (3.00) is really tough, but I do like the chances of main selections and , and will add , who was third on my shortlist following a couple of really game efforts at 7f on his last two starts.
Yibir won the Bahrain Trophy on this card last season, but has not looked one to trust this term. He will probably still make the frame in the fifth (3.35) as it's not competitive, but preference is for , who looks more straightforward.
That just leaves an eight-runner Listed race (4.10), in which , beaten under a length in the St James's Palace Stakes having gone widest all the way, also looks banker material.
