Our tipster has had a 15-2 winner and has an outsider to back in the Sprint Cup

Island Brave
2.55 Haydock
1pt each-way at 20-1

Island Brave, winner of this race 12 months ago, showed an incredible attitude that day and his recent form suggests he is ready to put in another gutsy display.

Then a seven-year-old, he rallied gamely to retake the lead close home and he arrives here off a 3lb lower rating. His latest run at Ascot showed similar qualities, as he was forced to fight his way from off the pace and was gaining all the way to the line.

On paper, this race is no tougher and the handicapper has left his mark alone. Heather Main has her string in excellent form and with the in-form Gina Mangan taking 5lb off his back he has an excellent chance.

Flaming Rib
3.30 Haydock
1pt each-way at 28-1

He is yet to win above Listed level, but Flaming Rib has been in excellent form this year and his price, given those exploits, borders on insulting.

He went down by a neck in the Sandy Lane at Haydock three starts ago and followed that up with a career-best effort in the Commonwealth Cup, beaten just over a length. That performance merits him respect in this field and his latest defeat at Newmarket is best forgiven, as he ultimately race on the wrong side of the track.

On the current ground, front-runners are going to be difficult to peg back and the in-form Ben Curtis is just the man for the job. Flaming Rib's record in fields of ten or more reads 201229 and this scenario should ultimately be ideal for him.
