Our tipster targets 33-1 and 25-1 upsets on day two of Glorious Goodwood
Luminous Light
1.50 Goodwood
1pt each-way with bookmakers paying four places
The market is saturated by Secret State and Soulcombe, which leaves plenty at the bottom of the market at much bigger prices than they should be – including Luminous Light (33-1).
Charlie and Mark Johnston's Glorious Goodwood record needs no introduction and this three-year-old has run a pair of promising races since being gelded. Latterly over 1m2f, he was hampered at a crucial stage and was thundering home under a hand ride late on.
His pedigree suggests otherwise, but he looks sure to stay 1m4f and this sharp track will certainly play to his strengths. Franny Norton is a master at these venues and after just six starts his mount is thoroughly unexposed.
She Do
2.25 Goodwood
1pt each-way with bookmakers paying six places
You will struggle to find a more open Group 3 race than this, and with six places on offer I'm siding with She Do (25-1), who has been somewhat of a cliff horse for me.
She deservedly had her day in the sun when winning a Listed race at Newmarket to end her 2021 campaign and she has shaped well without winning in two starts this season, latterly when third to Soft Whisper.
Those smaller-field races did not play to her strengths and all of her best performances have come when pitched into a field of ten or more. She will finally get a decent pace to aim at, something she has not had this term, and everything looks right for a huge effort.
Thunder Moor
3.00 Goodwood
1pt each-way
Rocket Rodney and Walbank are deserving of their prices, but they massively saturate the market and Thunder Moor (25-1) is a great price at a track that will suit.
He showed incredible speed when making all the running at York on his second start and there are excuses for his subsequent Norfolk defeat, when he was drawn on the wrong side of the track.
He has a better draw here and that should enable him to flash his early speed and enable him to sit handier than he did at Royal Ascot. Three places are on offer and the form of Kevin Ryan's string fills me with plenty of confidence.
